Cereal Monsters Get Real In This Creepy Art Series

Cereal Monsters can be adorable, and all they want to do is endorse their delicious breakfast cereals. However, at the end of the day, Count Chocula, Frankenberry and Boo Berry are still monsters.

Artist Mike Burns got serious with these cereal peddlers, depicting them as actual creepy monsters. Prints of Count Chocula, Frankenberry, and Boo Berry can be found here. Sadly, we don’t get to see Fruit Brute howling at the moon. Now, we wait.

Cereal Critters, A Series That Imagines Cereal Mascots As Action Figures

phil_postma_cereal_critters_3

If you grew up –like most — hooked on the kiddie crack that is kids’ breakfast cereal, then you probably consider cereal mascots your breakfast heroes. Unfortunately, after all these years, Frankenberry and Quisp were never given the honor of being encapsulated in a blister bubble.

Artist Phil Postma wants to change all of that, by providing a visual of what a cereal mascot would look like if packaged as an action figure. Cereal Critters is a series of illustrations provided by Postma, with our favorite breakfast spokesmen nestled safe in their bubble packaging.

Which cereal mascot would you want to play with first? Or, would you immediately want to form some sort of justice league with all of the cereal monsters?

If The Little Mermaid Were The Starbucks Mermaid

Artist Bruce Yan re-imagined a few classic cartoon characters as corporate mascots. As seen here, Ariel becomes the Starbucks mermaid. And, here at Foodiggity, we’re always a fan of the Starbucks logo being messed with.

Yan also mashes together Astro Boy and Bob’s Big Boy, creating a seamless merge of the two. See more of Yan’s work here.

If Alcohol Had Mascots Like Kids’ Cereal

1

Unlike impressionable young children and their breakfast cereal — we adults don’t need some cartoon mascot to get us to drink, thank you very much. But if we did, the ads might look something like what’s brought to us by Alex Watt of College Humor. Now who wants some booze and cereal?

Realistic Illustrations of Cereal Mascots

Breakfast just got real, with illustrations by artist Guillermo Fajardo. The series, officially titled Breakfast Time, depicts some of our favorite breakfast cereal mascots as if they existed in the real world. No longer do we see the colorful and adorable Tony the Tiger or Count Chocula — Fajardo gives the mascots a morbid sense of realism. Show these to the kids, and perhaps it will scare them into trying some oatmeal or fruit for breakfast.
