Dress Made of 50,000 Gummy Bears

What better way to help launch the new TWELV magazine, and pay homage to the late designer Alexander McQueen, than with a full-length ball gown made from gummy bears?

The dress, inspired by another colorful but gummy-less work by McQueen, consists of about 50,000 gummy bears, and weighs over 200 lbs — or about four-times as much as the model wearing it.

Dress Made From Fermented Wine

Don’t bother with the club soda… The wine is never getting out of this dress. That’s because this dress is made entirely of wine — fermented to create microfibers of cellulose that, when dried, has the consistency of cotton.

The project was developed by a group of scientists at the University of Western Australia, and is officially titled Microb’be’. The drawback of wearing this “fermented fashion,” besides that it looks like you’re wearing your insides on the outside, is that the dress will continue to produce vinegar. Appropriate if your intention was to smell like your dress looks — pickled.
