Mosaic Artist Fills Potholes With Yummy Treats and Food Packaging

The last time that we checked in with mosaic artist Jim Bachor, he was filling potholes throughout Chicago with ice cream.

Over the past few years, Jim has continued his work of improving streets and communities with more ice cream mosaics, unmistakeable food packaging and other treats. Bachor has even taken his talents to the streets of cities across the U.S. and abroad.

Bachor’s shop has prints and original works available, even a piece that showcases and old-school Swanson TV Dinner. We assume that he did the dessert first.

Bacon Skyline

Nothing helps to distinguish a major city better than its skyline. But the problem with New York City, San Francisco, and Pittsburgh is the unfortunate lack of a bacon backdrop.

The Bacon Skyline T-shirt depicts that wonderful city, where its residents never want for tasty bacon, and tourists will have their clothes smelling of pork fat for weeks — so, kinda like New York.

The Potato City

As you’ve probably already heard, we built this city on rock and roll. But Peter Root carved his out of 176 lbs of potatoes. Officially titled “Plot,” the miniature spud city was inspired by Root’s surroundings of Istanbul. It took about three weeks to complete and consists of very starchy homes, office blocks and places of worship. Take that, Starship.
