As we all know, when gold has 24 carrots in it, it’s good stuff. So, it only makes sense to use carrots to create a gold cake.

Oh… it’s gold “karats.” Never mind.

As we all know, when gold has 24 carrots in it, it’s good stuff. So, it only makes sense to use carrots to create a gold cake.
Brought to us by Instructables user, Paige Russell, the 24 Carrot Cake looks like an actual gold bar. And, in case you’re wondering if this gold cake is legit, the recipe actually uses 24 baby carrots… so you know it’s good.
Oh… it’s gold “karats.” Never mind.

Growing up, we’re fed all kinds of lies… Santa, the Tooth Fairy, the boogey man that’s not under the bed [we know he’s there]. But there are few lies our parents told us that are more egregious, than how carrots will help improve our eyesight. A little known fact is that this myth was the result of some innocent war propaganda.
Photographer Henry Hargreaves, always up for a good time with food, created the Carrot Eye Chart. Stand back, start with the big carrot ‘E’ and check your eyesight. I got as far as the line of greek characters and a question mark. Shoulda ate my carrots.

An instructional and mildly humorous Flickr set shows how to turn overgrown and inedible carrots into everyone’s favorite candy meat, bacon.
Although, when it’s all said and done, the ‘bacon’ is nothing more than a batch of DIY Terra Chips — you can take pride in having found a use for inedible carrots or for indulging your annoying vegan friends.
