Operation Save Tastykake

January 13, 2011 by Chris Durso

Tastykake, the junk food peddlers established in 1914, is apparently facing some financial woes. And unsurprisingly, a good old-fashioned Facebook campaign has been started to help save the misspelled treats.

Operation Save Tastykake is a public event that urges fans to participate in ‘Buy a Tastykake Day’ on January 14 to help support the cause.

As Tastykake has always been a poor man’s version of Drake’s and Hostess, their cause might be a bit more challenging than expected. While perusing the junk food aisle, it will probably be hard to commit to Swiss Rolls opposed to the far superior Yodels — or settling for Chocolate Kreamies, when Devil Dogs are staring you in the face.

Either way, we wish Tastykakes luck. In their honor we will be using ‘K’ in place of ‘C’ for the remainder of the day. It’s the least we kan do.

Visit the Facebook event page for more.
