After the response we received from the Bacon and Egg Mittens posted here at Foodiggity, I wanted to find out more about the artist responsible. And I’m sure glad that I did.
San Francisco-based artist, Twinkie Chan, not only creates fingerless mittens of the ultimate breakfast, but also does beautiful needleworks of scarves, brooches, and cozies — all inspired by food.
But what makes Twinkie and her work that much more awesome, is her admitted obsession with fake food. Diving into her about page [which I highly recommend] she proudly admits to often spending her entire allowance on those fake Fisher Price kitchen toys and meals, and owning the whole McDonald’s kitchen set. It’s this obsession, along with the occasional San Francisco fog, that inspires Twinkie to keep her work playful and cozy warm.
All of Twinkie Chan’s work is made to order and available at her Etsy store.
