Record Packaging Made From Sugar

What artists have to do to sell an album these days. Well, making the album out of a giant block of sugar is a good start. For Beacon’s first LP The Ways We Separate, Brooklyn-based sculptor Fernando Mastrangelo created a 13″x13″ cast sugar housing for the vinyl record.

And everyone loves sugar… You’ll just have to explain to your friends what vinyl is. The limited edition is available for pre-order here.

Fried Chicken ‘Action’ Figure

If you’re one to play with your food, and you like your toys deep-fried and anthropomorphic — there’s Dalston Fried Chicken. This cute little guy was created by Mark James, and inspired by hazy late night visits to fast food outlets.

And, to help celebrate the figure’s vinyl-ness even more, he comes with Cherrystones ‘Chicken Rhythm‘ 7” single.

How To Make a Serving Bowl From a Vinyl Record

You probably have plenty of old vinyl records laying around. And, since you won’t be revisiting your ABBA albums any time soon, you might as well put the records to good use. YouTube user mururuoar shows us a fun and easy way to turn those old albums into a cool and durable serving bowl. Simply place that antiquated medium in the oven to soften it up, then place it over a pot or bowl to mold it into shape.

Then, you’ll just need to explain to younger guests how music actually once came out of that thing. And, why you ever listened to ABBA. For a matching set, and to confuse everyone even further, pick up a set of Record Coasters.
