Realistic Food Bookmarks Because Japan

photo_05

As you’ve probably already discovered, real food does not make for a good bookmark.

Thankfully, Tokyo Kitsch created these flat Realistic Food Bookmarks, so you can stick them in your books without soiling any more pages. The bookmarks — available in bacon, egg, salmon, pancakes and a few others — become a great addition to Japan’s practical use of fake food.

Fried Chicken Poodles Because Japan

P1010698

Once you play the ‘Fried Chicken or Poodle? game,’ it’s hard not to imagine a litter of adorable puppies in that greasy bucket.

Nevertheless, we must persevere, and make sure that no fried chicken goes to waste. Japanese food blogger, Nichinami, just made an adorable batch — perpetuating its resemblance to poodles by adding eyes and a nose. Still want to eat.

Gold-Wrapped Ice Cream Exists Because Japan

gold-ice-cream

If that soft-serve of yours just isn’t fancy enough, there’s now golden ice cream. Kanazawa, apparently the gold leaf capital of Japan, is wrapping soft-serve ice cream with edible bling.

Although, some people already have experience ingesting very small doses of gold leaf, the jury is still out on what a cone’s worth of it will do. Stay tuned.

Chocolate Single-serve Slices Now Exist Because Japan

chocolate-sandwich-slices

Why should cheese be the only foodstuff available in convenient, single-serving, plastic-wrapped slices? They shouldn’t. And that’s because Japan, being a wonder of questionable food innovation, is on it.

Brought to us by Japanese company, Bourbon, single-serve chocolate slices now exist. Wrapped individually for easy access, chocolate can now replace cheese wherever these slices seem appropriate.

Grilled chocolate sandwiches, chocolate and bologna… wait… perhaps this is a terrible idea. Use ’em for desserts, or straight-up chocolate sandwiches.
