Sandwiches Deconstructed and Organized Neatly On Vintage Lunch Trays by David Schwen

April 7, 2015 by Chris Durso

dschwen-organized

Artist David Schwen has a way of using minimalism, incorporating everyday objects, and making the end result so awesome that it hurts.

Schwen’s recent “How To” series is a perfect example of this. Created for The Daily Share, the series takes a few well-known sandwiches and lunch items, breaks them down into parts, and presents them segmented on a vintage lunch tray.

The images that Schwen creates become a thorough exercise in minimalism, deconstruction, ephemera and food styling. And, if you didn’t already know what makes up a cheeseburger or Reuben, the photos can be a handy tutorial in sandwich-making.

Pantone Food Pairings by David Schwen

February 26, 2013 by Chris Durso

7

We’ve recently seen food pairings tied together, and Pantone-matching food items. Now, artist David Schwen keeps the trend going with Pantone Pairings. In the series, food items are represented in swatch form to help bring the greatest of dynamic food duos together.

Although, as we all know, bacon matches with everything. See more here.

Helvetica Burger Apron

August 1, 2012 by Chris Durso

If you prefer to do your grilling sans serif, there’s The Sanswich Apron. Designed by artist David Schwen, you can use one to protect your best summer wear, and show your love for the most basic of fonts.

And, if you need one to help remember how to construct a burger, simply wear it upside down.

Mr. BLT

April 27, 2012 by Chris Durso

OK… I’ll be the first to admit that the Mr. T/tea jokes have gotten old. But leave it to artist David Schwen to reinvent a tired pun, with Mr. BLT. Now pass the mayo, fool!

Prints are available here, and you can vote to help Mr. BLT become a t-shirt here.
