Princess Leia may have been a strong and inspiring female character in Star Wars: A New Hope, but there’s no getting past that her hair looked a lot like delicious chocolate buns.

Jenn Fujikawa agrees, and has realized this yummy hair-inspired dessert with Princess Leia Nutella Buns. Not only is there a recipe for the buns, but Jenn shows us how to reinforce the theme with a Leia plate.

McDonald’s Invites People To Create Burgers Online, Hilarity and Regret Ensues

July 26, 2016 by Chris Durso

Someone at McDonald’s New Zealand thought it would be fun for the internet to create burgers online. McDonald’s would provide the platform, Create Your Taste, as well as all the digital ingredients to help get the creative juices flowing. There was only one problem though… most people are assholes.

The result of the campaign became little more than a collection of the biggest burger-building wise-asses on the planet. Results were mostly in good fun, while some were more on the offensive side.

The site appears down now, due to the shenanigans, so the fun’s over. Thanks, wise-asses!

Star Trek Beer Goes Where No Ale Has Gone Before

July 25, 2016 by Chris Durso

To help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek, Shmaltz Brewing Company has released two Star Trek Anniversary Ales.

First up is “The Trouble With Tribbles,” a reference to an original Star Trek episode:

“Light Carastan malt gives some residual sweetness in the form of very light toffee. A dose of Munich adds a slight bready quality, and wheat malt lends to a slight crisp character. Mashing at a moderate temperature gives this beer a medium body. In keeping with the intergalactic theme, hopping is comprised of Comet, Polaris, Aurora and Admiral (Kirk) hops. This beer is only loosely filtered to clarity, in order to preserve the ambiguity of good and evil.”

Also, “The Voyage to the Northeast Quadrant,” described here:

“…harnesses a crisp, clean malt character showcased by the use of light Munich malts and brewer’s maze. The aroma is accented by fresh citrus fruits such as lemon and lime with subtle notes of white wine. The crisp malts and fruity aromas are elevated by maintaining a mild bitterness allowing each selected ingredient to offer its individual qualities without being overshadowed by any single ingredient.”

Star Trek Golden Anniversary Ale: The Trouble With Tribbles made its debut at San Diego Comic-Con, and will later appear for sale in the San Diego area. Star Trek Golden Anniversary Ale: Voyage to the Northeast Quadrant will appear at “Mission New York” at the Javits Center from September 2 – 4, 2016.

This Bagel Burger Stuffed With A Bourbon Shot Will Help Fill The Void

July 25, 2016 by Chris Durso

The problem with any bagel sandwich, is that there’s all that space wasted by the bagel-hole. Sydney, Australia’s Chicken & Sons is here to remedy that.

The Bourbon Bagel turns that negative space into a positive. Besides the Angus beef patty, “Yankee” cheese, pickles, special sauce, bourbon-glazed bacon, jalapeño and bourbon bbq sauce — a shot of Bulleit bourbon is stuffed in the hole. Problem solved!
