The Time You Have (In JellyBeans)

June 24, 2013 by Chris Durso

The Time You Have (In JellyBeans) is a thought-provoking short film by humorist ZeFrank. In it, we learn about our actual time spent doing mundane everyday activities, presented with a visual aid that we can all understand… Jelly beans.

Using 28,835 of them — the number of days in an average human life cycle — the beans are counted and removed until only one remains. Then we’re forced to think, when all we’d really like to do is go grab a bag of Jelly Bellies. Please enjoy…

Wine-Flavored Popcorn Exists

June 24, 2013 by Chris Durso

‘Doesn’t wine go great with popcorn?’ said nobody ever. Regardless, a NYC-based artisan popcorn maker called Populence feels there’s a market for such a thing, and has brought us two wine-infused popcorns.

The upscale snack was a collaborative effort with New Zealand winemaker Kim Crawford. Tins of Pinot Noir Drizzle and Sauvignon Blanc Lemon are avaialble here, along with samplers just in case you’re only morbidly curious.

Food Idioms Using Food As Typography

June 21, 2013 by Chris Durso

“_____ as _____” is brought to us by designer Christine Kawasaki-Chan. Using food as typography, Chan recreates a few English idioms such as, “Cool as a Cucumber,” and “Easy as Pie.” Well, at least part of it uses typography, as the phrases are finished by the food itself. Now, how about some of that easy pie?

Why Does Asparagus Make Your Pee Smell Funny?

June 21, 2013 by Chris Durso

The taste of asparagus can be wonderful. The way asparagus makes your pee smell… Not so much. So, why does the slender green veggie give our urine the stinkies? Well, according to this video by BytesizeScience, it’s actually not the asparagus’ fault, but rather has to do with the genetics of the eater.

Great… Something else to blame your parents for. Thanks for making my pee smell, Mom!
