When your regular ol’ sunny-side-up eggs just won’t cut it — the Sunnyside Egg Shaper is here to help. Made from food-safe silicone, you could add some sunshine to the dreariest of breakfast plates, while making the ‘scramblers’ and ‘poachers’ super-jealous. Available here.

A Colorful Winter, A Photo Series of Precisely Cut and Arranged Fruits and Vegetables

January 25, 2013 by Chris Durso

To help combat the colorless and slightly depressing days of winter, artist Florent Tanet created A Colorful Winter. By precisely cutting and arranging the produce into deliberate patterns, the individual items come together as a cohesive whole, while injecting some much needed color into our cold gray days.

A Colorful Winter is currently on display at Le Bon Marché department store in Paris.

January 25, 2013 by Chris Durso

Because your smartphone dependence and lack of self-awareness knows no bounds — there’s now an iPhone case with a built-in cup holder. The UpperCup is a device that will not only protect your precious phone, but will also hold on to your latte.

So you can continue to text while not watching where you’re going. Only this time, there’s a scorching-hot beverage up front, eager to crash into an innocent bystander. Just look up every once in a while — you’ll be fine.

The UpperCup is currently in concept stage, and gathering startup funds over at Indiegogo.

January 24, 2013 by Chris Durso

If you don’t know a colander from a cookie sheet, or what a box grater is for… Then first, step away from the kitchen. Second, grab a copy of The Cartography of Kitchenware by Pop Chart Lab, and hang it on your wall, pronto.

The 24″ x 36″ poster is beautifully printed on 100lb archival recycled stock, and is “the world’s most thorough mapping of kitchenware” which includes over 200 tools, machines, and manipulators. Now, get back in there and put that spatula and meat tenderizer to good use.

January 24, 2013 by Chris Durso

OK, hipsters. We didn’t mind when you created a cocktail shaker out of a mason jar, or when you turned your signature container into a travel mug. But Mason Jar Salads? And, according to Gothamist, this movement didn’t originate in Brooklyn?!? I don’t even know you anymore, hipsters. Enjoy your little jarred salads… We’re outta here.

But seriously — people apparently love these. And when we say “people,” we mean Pinterest-trolling vegans. There’s also a proven method to the perfect jar-o-salad — see below.
