Foodiggity on Location ’12

July 3, 2012 by Chris Durso

Around this time last year, Foodiggity.com took a break to enjoy the sights and sounds of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, and to sample some of the goods from Dogfish Head Brewery. This year, we’re off to Tennessee, and will be paying Jack Daniels a little visit. I’m noticing a trend here.

Anyway, look for a bit less action here on the blog for the next few days. The Foodiggity Shop is still open for business — but orders placed this week will need an extra few days to arrive. Thanks, and Happy 4th of July, everyone!

The Best Commercials Starring A Man Cow That You’ll See All Day

July 2, 2012 by Chris Durso

Applegate Farms wants you to know that their beef is hormone, antibiotic, and pharmaceutical free. And what better way to get the point across, than with commercials starring grown men dressed as cows?

During a few job-interview-type meetings set up by concerned moms, the man cows — made to represent the average, non-Applegate bovine — have trouble hiding their dependencies. Needless to say, none get the job. But they’re also too stoned to realize it.

There’s Gold In Them Thar Beers

July 2, 2012 by Chris Durso

Most of us have had some form of gold beer. But it was probably limited to the shiny can of a Coors Extra, or the golden hue of Miller High Life. Now, for a select few, a Czech brewery is making an actual gold beer, by placing 0.018 grams of the inert metal in each bottle.

Officially titled “Re” after the Egyptian sun god, and packaged in an actual champagne bottle — the golden lager is truly “The Champagne of Beers.” Sorry, Miller High Life.

Food Sculptures That Look Like Other Stuff

July 2, 2012 by Chris Durso

Brought to us by artist Dan Cretu — various foods are sliced, peeled, and placed to resemble everyday objects. Seen in the collection are an orange and lime camera, pumpkin and sunflower seed soccer ball, and a hot pepper chopper.

What’s truly amazing, is how Cretu keeps his work interesting, while not pandering to our meat-centric food culture. Although, a bacon boom box would’ve been awesome. See more here.
