Coffee Cups Want a Do-Over

Betacup—a project founded in 2009—hopes to find a solution to the 58 billion non-recyclable coffee cups that get thrown away every year. Since Starbucks probably accounts for 57 billion of those—they are sponsoring Betacup’s contest to redesign the coffee cup.

We are not just talking about an updated graphic treatment and fancy new lid—we are dealing with a complete rethink on the concept of a portable coffee cup.

Uncle O’Grimacey, Everyone’s Favorite Green Deadbeat Uncle

Uncle O’Grimacey was the Irish uncle of our favorite velvet McDonald’s mascot, Grimace. He had been responsible for bringing McDonald’s Shamrock Shakes over from Ireland every March.

However, just like a typical deadbeat uncle, he hadn’t been seen in decades, and the infamous green shakes became nothing but a legend in these parts.

Although, the frozen green treat is back on its annual schedule, Uncle O’Grimacey is nowhere to be found. Just like Uncle Ned, who no longer sends you a birthday card.

The Sushi Popper

Just when you thought sushi culture hadn’t been bastardized enough—enter the Sushi Popper. According to the Sushi Popper website, “We’re passionate about portable sushi and spreading the word about eating it in places where it was never possible before.” Also be forewarned that reading the FAQ’s on their site will almost certainly make you dumber.
